On February 28, a significant theological training event took place in six township areas around Cape Town, bringing together 67 local pastors for an in-depth exploration of the Holy Spirit from both biblical and historical perspectives.
The seminar, titled “Holy Spirit: Biblical and Historical Perspective,” was led by Dr. Bonjour Bay, Ph.D., Director of the Live by Holy Spirit Course and former Professor Emeritus at Sungkyul University. Dr. Bay delivered systematic and historically grounded teaching, helping pastors deepen their theological understanding of the Holy Spirit and its role in the life of the Church.
The event was jointly organized by Reals Research and the Council of Christian Elders, reflecting a strong spirit of cooperation among Christian leadership networks. Their partnership aimed to strengthen pastors serving in township communities through sound doctrine and shared learning.
Adding to the richness of the gathering, members of WITH Mission, a coalition of missionaries, actively participated in the program. In addition, two missionary families joined the event, contributing fellowship, encouragement, and practical support, which further enhanced the sense of unity and collaboration.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with historical theology alongside Scripture, noting that the training provided renewed clarity and confidence for pastoral ministry in their local contexts. Organizers described the seminar as a meaningful step toward equipping church leaders with a balanced and biblically rooted understanding of the Holy Spirit.
The February 28 gathering stood as a powerful example of how theological education, missionary partnership, and pastoral unity can come together to serve the Church and its leaders in South Africa’s township communities.
